The Artful Line: Drawings from The Harris collection and The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Gallery exhibition has reopened at The Harris, Preston, following a temporary closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The exhibition, which originally opened on 15 February, brings together works from these two important collections for the first time to look at drawing in all its forms.
Featuring works from the 17th century to the present day, the exhibition includes drawings from The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s collection by artists including Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Frank Auerbach, William Henry Hunt and Helen Saunders. Drawings by William Blake, Angelica Kauffman and Deanna Petherbridge are also on display.
The Artful Line is part of our and our ongoing partnership with The Harris celebrates our shared heritage through Â鶹ÊÓƵs textiles – this year marks the 40th anniversary of the closure of the Â鶹ÊÓƵs’ factory in Preston.
Preston artists Gavin Renshaw, Kathryn Poole and Anita George have also created new works for the exhibition, inspired by the history of the site, now Red Scar Business Park, and the people who worked there.
Katherine Dunleavy, National Programme Coordinator at The Â鶹ÊÓƵ, said: ‘We are delighted that The Artful Line exhibition has reopened and that these four remarkable drawings from The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s collection can be enjoyed by the Preston community once more. It is fantastic that The Â鶹ÊÓƵ and The Harris can continue to celebrate our shared heritage with Â鶹ÊÓƵs textiles through this exhibition.
