On 25 April 2018, Â鶹ÊÓƵ hosts RES|FEST 18 – a FREE festival of art historical research.
This is an action-packed evening of lightning talks, performances and exhibits that celebrate art history, curating and conservation. With events spilling across The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s buildings in Somerset House, RES|FEST 18 also celebrates the connection and collaboration between The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Institute and Gallery – the ultimate goal simply being to demonstrate why art history matters more than ever in our image-saturated post-truth world.
The idea is that visitors will ‘curate their own evening’. The dynamic programme, with several events happening at once, will bring art to life, reveal new perspectives and will demonstrate that art history is not limited to looking at the past, but prompts questions about todays’ art, culture and society too.
As RES|FEST 18 unfolds throughout The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s buildings, visitors will be able to drop in for talks led by art world professionals, academics, curators, conservators and Â鶹ÊÓƵ students and alumni. Talented poets including Bethany Rose, Koko Brown, Dean Atta and Andrés Nikolas Ordorica will perform new pieces of work made in response to The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Gallery collection, which stretches from the early Renaissance to the 20th century and beyond.
Talks at RES|FEST 18 provide answers to questions such as:
Is the Museum of London fatberg a metaphor for Brexit?
We need to talk about Data?
How can we make the museum more sensory?
Do we think with our hands?
Where are all the women?
RES|FEST 18 will be live streamed across The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s social media channels and uploaded to The Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s YouTube channel.
The event is free and open to all, but booking is essential.
